This week I am going to Japan to attend Samurai school. I don't know what to expect exactly because I don't know much about samurai, but it will be a adventure! My teacher just walked in.
"Good mourning class, today we will be learning writing and literature. As a samurai you will be expected to be students of culture and warriors." He said in a simple voice. "First we will be learning calligraphy, the art of writing. Take out your brushes and ink." I shuffled through my bag and found the materials. I quickly put them on the table and waited for more instructions.
"Dip the brush in lightly and make a strait vertical line. Now make a horizontal line in the center. from the right side, where the corers on the bottom are draw a curved line. And do the same on the other side. This is calligraphy for tree." The class owwed and awwed. "For the end of this lesson we are going to learn how to write a haiku poem. A haiku has 3 lines of 5,7,and 5 syllables. Write one about nature now." For a while you could hear ink dripping and scratching. "That is all for this lesson see you tomorrow!" The teacher said and waved everybody goodbye.
The next day I walked in and my teacher was sitting on the floor with his eyes closed. I didn't know what to do, so I stood awkwardly in the door. Soon all the students showed up and the teacher awoke in his trance.
"Good mourning class, today wee will be learning the form of Zen. Zen emphasis on effort and discipline. When you came in, I was meditating. Trying to reach enlightenment. Sit legs crossed on the floor. Place your hand where ever, and don't move."
I tried to stay still, but I'm always moving. I peaked open my eye to see other struggling with this to. It felt like hours trying to stay still, then finally it came over me. I finally felt calm, and focused. We did this for days. Just sitting still and breathing. When it was nice, we went out into the garden to help us get calm. One day the teacher taught us about konas. He said if we wish to become enlightened we have to give up logical thinking. He asked up "What is the sound of one hand clapping?"
I went to school for months, but then I got my next mission. Samari school was fun. I even learned the sixth sense. Now I can feel when danger is around me. I didn't like the was i learned it though. The teacher went aroung wuith a stick and smacked us when we were not expecting it. This was a fun mission! <3 <3 <3
